Notes and thoughts on my World

A Turning Point

June 15th, 2008 by diana

I loved the movie Under the Tuscan Sun.  I know it came out years ago but certain parts of the movie and Diane Lanes character in particular have stuck with me ever since.  There is one scene in the movie where her best friends are talking to her in a restaurant.  They remind her that we all go through tough times and the choices we make during those times lead us in the right direction or down a bad road.

I was thinking about that earlier today.  How scary it is to think that one decision you make can affect your entire life.  We are all human and we all make mistakes.  One troubling thought came to me because of a story that was on the news.  Someone had gotten into a bad car accident on their way to work.  Why didn’t that person call in sick that day?  Why did they leave at the exact time that placed them in that situation?  It is frightening to think about how fragile life is and how decisions we make affect almost every part of it.

I love the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun.” I thought it was very empowering for women.
